Kate began dancing at age 3 at the Dance Center in Durango, Colorado. Her professional ballet training started on scholarship at Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts, also attending intensives at Houston Ballet, Washington Ballet, Ballet Austin, and Joffrey Midwest. After graduating from Walnut Hill, Kate took a trainee position with the Joffrey Ballet and went on to dance with Colorado Ballet for two seasons.
Kate joined Ballet San Antonio in 2013 and was promoted to soloist in 2016. She has been featured in a variety of ballets including Giselle (Giselle), Don Quixote (Kitri), The Sleeping Beauty (Aurora), George Balanchine’s Rubies (principal lady) and Donizetti Variations (principal lady), The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy), Gerald Arpino’s Confetti (yellow tutu), and Ben Stevenson O.B.E.’s Swan Lake (Pas de Trois, Cygnets, and Neapolitan Princess) and Cinderella (Spring Fairy). Maxted has also enjoyed performing works by Dominic Walsh, Glen Tetley, Michael Pink, Peter Anastos, and Frederick Franklin.
In 2018, Kate graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a B.A. in Arts Management.
