Beauty. Seduction.
Gothic Spectacle.
Ballet at its most deliciously dangerous. After its successful premiere last season, Ballet San Antonio’s Dracula will run in October 2012. Based on Bram Stoker’s chilling novel, the ballet is set in Victorian London and unfolds in three acts with the use of custom designed scenery and costumes.
A meticulously staged, beautifully danced new story ballet choreographed by Zertuche… was a big undertaking and a big accomplishment by Ballet San Antonio. San Antonio Express-News
Dracula has been staged by major ballet companies in recent years, among them Houston Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Colorado Ballet and Atlanta Ballet. Typically considered an audience favorite, the plot behind Dracula has long captivated the imagination: From the depths of Transylvania to the streets of London, the unstoppable Count Dracula has his pick of victims, and Jonathan Harker fights valiantly to save his beloved Mina from the nocturnal count’s grasp.
Set to a haunting score by Philip Feeney, this ballet version of Dracula has proven to captivate San Antonio audiences. Principal Dancer Ian Morris will once again play Dracula.
