Sierra Ortega began her training in Huntsville, Alabama at Huntsville Community Ballet under the direction of Keren Gibb and David Herriot. In 2009, she received a scholarship to attend the Alabama Ballet School in Birmingham, Alabama where she performed roles with the main company. These roles included Corps de Ballet in Swan Lake, Chinese Demi-Soloist, and Corps de Ballet in Spanish, Snow, and Flowers in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. She furthered her training as a scholarship student at summer programs including Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet.

In 2017, Ortega graduated from Butler University cum laude with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Strategic Communication. At Butler, she performed Soloist and Principal roles in Giselle, The Nutcracker and Susan McGuire’s Largo. In 2014 and 2016, she toured Eastern Europe with Butler Ballet where she trained and performed in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In addition to her dance experience, Ortega was a summer intern in the Office of Strategic Analysis and Communication at NASA in 2016.
