Shameka grew up as a military child. Her father retired and made San Antonio their home. Shameka took dance classes while attending Judson H.S. During this time Shameka had the opportunity to study various styles of dance.

In 2002 Shameka attended undergraduate school at Our Lady of the Lake University. She studied and received a Bachelor of Social Work. During this time Shameka served as vice president of the dance team. Shameka then went on to graduate school, at OLLU and earned a Master of Social Work in 2007.

Shameka worked as a social worker in San Antonio and surrounding areas. She then began her journey to become a clinician.

Shameka now works as a License clinical social worker provided psychotherapy. Most of her focus has been children and families. Shameka is a mother of twin boys with autism and she has a passion for children and families in the special needs community. Shameka became a certified Rhythm Works Dance instructor in 2021.
