Sofie Bertolini began training at age four at Austin Dance Academy, later Ballet Austin Academy, under Arletta Howard-Logan, Bill Piner, and Lynne Short, with additional training at Boston Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Growing up performing with the Youth Ballet Theatre and Austin Dance Ensemble under Arletta Howard-Logan cultivated her love for the stage.
After becoming a Trainee with Ballet Austin under Michelle Martin and Stephen Mills in 2009, Bertolini’s professional career continued with small workshop-oriented companies based in Austin, TX.
She went on to join Ballet San Antonio in 2014.
She has enjoyed performing numerous principal roles with Ballet San Antonio, including most recently as Juliet in Edwaard Liang’s Romeo and Juliet, Alice in Brian Enos’ Alice in Wonderland, and as the Sugar Plum Fairy in Eason and Haley Smith’s The Nutcracker. She has also had the pleasure of performing featured roles in George Balanchine’s Rubies, Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake, Bruce Wells’ Beauty and the Beast, and Dominic Walsh’s The Whistling.
Rivard Report’s Tami Kegley writes, “Special kudos go to Sofie Bertolini for her sass and vinegar. She not only performed [The Whistling] immaculately, she brought it alive with toughness and humor that was sublime.”
