The School of Ballet San Antonio’s Fall Session program provides dancers ages 3 and above, the opportunity to work with our professional staff to emphasize the French curriculum of musicality, sound technique and a strong focus on alignment of the body.

Class Descriptions

Dance with me 2+

Dance with Me 2+ is a fun and bonding dance class for students age 2, and their parent or caregiver. The class introduces young dancers to the dance studio through creative movement, rhythm, musicality, and social skills.

Meets once a week for 45 minutes, age 2

 

 

Pre-Ballet 3-4

Students in this level are introduced to the art of dance through movement exploration, creative imagery, props, and musical identification.

Meets once a week for 1 hour, ages 3-4

 

Pre-Ballet 4-5

The second year of Pre-Ballet expands upon the concepts introduced in Pre-Ballet A. Students will dive deeper into the rhythm, and locomotor movements, and expand their imagination.

Meets once a week for 1 hour, ages 4-5

 

Primary 5-6

Primary A will further expand on the students’ creative exploration, strength building, teamwork, and discipline. In addition this level introduces basic ballet vocabulary.

Meets once a week for 1 hour, ages 5-6

 

Primary 6-7

The second year of Primary continues to grow the ballet vocabulary and introduces the ballet class structure. Creativity and deepening musical understanding deepen.

Meets once a week for 1 hour, ages 6-7

Level 1

Continuing to build on the ballet class structure, Level 1 deepens the ballet vocabulary. This class aims to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration as well as introduce barre work.

Meets twice a week for 1 hour and 15 minutes, enrollment by placement only.

 

Level 2

This level builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in Level I. Classes aim to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration. Classtime extends by 15 minutes.

Meets twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes, enrollment by placement only.

 

Level 3

Level 3 builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in prior levels, now attending 3 times a week. Classes aim to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration. 

Meets three times a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes, enrollment by placement only.

 

Level 4

Level 4 builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in prior levels, now attending 3 or 4 times a week depending on which option is chosen. Classes aim to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration. Pointe work is introduced at this level when appropriate. 

Meets three or four times a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes, enrollment by placement only.

 

Level 5

Level 5 builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in prior levels, now attending 4 or 5 times a week depending on which option is chosen. Classes aim to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration. Pointe work continues and advances in this level.

Meets four or five times a week for 1 hour and 45 minutes, enrollment by placement only.

 

Level 6

Level 5 builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in prior levels, now attending 5 times a week. Classes aim to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration. A separate pointe class begins at this level.

Meets five times a week for 2 hours and 15 minutes, enrollment by placement only.

Boys Class

For all level boys in addition to their assigned technique class. Focusing on strength, line, discipline, and quality of movement with a male instructor.

Meets once a week for 1 hour enrollment by placement only.

 

Contemporary

An eclectic dance style that draws elements from ballet, modern, jazz, and improvisation to produce dynamic expressive movement. 

Meets once a week for one hour, recommended for children aged 12-18

 

Tap

This class focuses on rhythm, basic tap skills, tap terminology, coordination, and music concepts to enhance individual artistry. 

Meets once a week for 1 hour 

 

Teen Beginner Ballet

This class is geared for the teenager who is new to ballet, students will learn the fundamentals and basics with an age-appropriate approach.

Meets twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes

 

Adult Ballet  

Adult Ballet is designed to be inclusive for all dance enthusiasts and focuses on technical strength, coordination, and movement quality. A prior knowledge of ballet training and vocabulary is not required.

Meets twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutesdrop in basis and recommended for 18+

 

Adult Contemporary 

An eclectic style that explores each element of dance (body, action, space, time, and energy to produce dynamic expressive movement. Movers are encouraged to bring all experiences to the process and remain curious as we explore what it is to move authentically. 

Meets once a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes, drop in basis and recommended for 18+

Student will purchase dress code uniforms directly from us.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition is a semester fee, parceled out into monthly installments. SBSA offers a 10% discount to families with more than one child enrolled, as well as 10% for active military.

Refund & Withdrawal Policy

All tuition and fees paid to SBSA are non-refundable. Fees may not be transferred or extended towards future tuition.If a student wishes to withdraw from the summer intensive, the SBSA office must receive written notification. SBSA is not liable or obligated in any way to process any refunds or issue any tuition credits. No refunds or credits are granted for missed classes or early withdrawal.
