More Information About SBSA

At the School of Ballet San Antonio (SBSA), we are taking proactive steps to maintain a safe
workplace and adopt practices to protect the health of all individuals. Learn more about our safety practices before arriving at the studios.

We ask that each individual bring a water bottle to use for the water fountains.

All individuals are required to practice good personal hygiene and infection control practices including:

  • Having had no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to coming to the studio facility;
  • Providing a clearance note from their health care provider to return to the studio facility if the individual
    has had COVID-19;
  • Self-quarantining for 14 days prior to returning to the studio facility if traveling back to San Antonio;
  • Wearing a face mask at all times in the studio;
  • Social distancing by staying at least ten feet away from other individuals during breaks or congregating
    times;
  • Frequent and thorough hand washing for at least 20 seconds with warm, soapy water;
  • No food or drinks in the studio;
  • Having hair and makeup done before entering the studio facility;
  • Staying home if you are ill;
  • Respiratory etiquette including covering coughs and sneezes using tissue or the inside of your elbow and
    avoiding touching your face; and
  • Compliance with all safety measures outlined by SBSA.

DAILY TEMPERATURE CHECK
Each individual will have their temperature checked by an SBSA Instructor upon arrival at the studio facility. If an individual has a temperature greater than 100.4 F, they will not be allowed into the studio facility.

SBSA does not allow parents of students into the studio facility during classes. An SBSA Instructor will meet each student at the front door to escort them into the studio facility.

At the conclusion of their class, the SBSA Instructor will escort them back to the front door to meet their parent.

In the case of an emergency, an Instructor will contact the listed contacted in your records.

Please stay home and contact the SBSA Associate Director, Mary Jo Crews at m.crews@balletsanantonio.org, if you, or a member of your immediate household:

  • Are diagnosed with COVID-19; or
  • Have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
    Please contact the SBSA Associate Director and do not report to the studio facility if you feel ill or suspect you
    may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

Upon receipt of the communication, further instructions will be given to the parent regarding classes.

This policy will be amended and updated in response to the evolution of COVID-19. There will be signs posted in the studio facility with socially-distanced markings for breaks and studio work, use of water fountains, and access to the dressing areas and restrooms.

It is the responsibility of each individual to follow the COVID-19 protocols so we may all do our part to maintain a safe studio environment.

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported, ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. COVID-19 symptoms may include fever, cough, headache, fatigue, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle or body aches, sore throat, the new loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

This list is not all-inclusive. Some people infected with the virus have reported experiencing less common gastrointestinal symptoms. Other individuals, referred to as asymptomatic cases, have experienced no symptoms at all.

According to the CDC, symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure.
