The School of Ballet San Antonio provides dancers ages 2 and above, the opportunity to work with our professional staff to emphasize musicality, sound technique and a strong focus on alignment of the body.

Pre-Ballet Division classes are for students ages 2-7 years old. Students in these levels are introduced to the art of dance through movement exploration, creative imagery, props, and musical identification. No prior dance experience necessary.
Dance with me 2+
Dance with Me 2+ is a fun and bonding dance class for students age 2, and their parent or caregiver. This class introduces young dancers to the dance studio through creative movement, rhythm, musicality, and social skills. Dance with Me 2+ meets once a week for 45 minutes.
Hummingbirds (ages 3-4)
Students in this level are introduced to the art of dance through movement exploration, creative imagery, props, and musical identification. This is the first class dancers are independent of their parent or caregiver. Hummingbirds meet once a week for 1 hour.
Wrens (ages 4-5)
Wrens will dive deeper into the rhythm, and locomotor movements, and expand their imagination. In this level students are introduced to muscle identification, posture awareness, and beginning ballet concepts. Wrens meet once a week for 1 hour.
Robins (ages 5-6)
Robins will further expand on the students’ creative exploration, strength building, teamwork, and discipline. The building blocks of basic ballet vocabulary and structure are introduced. Robins meet once a week for 1 hour.
Owls (ages 6-7)
Owls grow the ballet vocabulary and expand on the ballet class structure, with the barre introduced in the Spring. Creativity and deepening musical understanding continue to be explored. Owls meet once a week for 1 hour.
Pre-Professional Division classes are for students 8-18 years old looking to train seriously in ballet on a professional track. These levels are by placement only, please contact SBSA to schedule a free trial class.
Level 1
The first level of the Pre-Professional Division, Level 1 continues to build on the ballet class structure and deepen the ballet vocabulary. This class aims to strengthen technique, stamina, and concentration for beginning ballet students. Level 1 meets twice a week for 1 hour.

Level 2
Level 2 builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in Level 1, with class time extending by 15 minutes. Added emphasis is placed on posture, placement, and material retention. Level 2 meets twice a week for 1.25 hours.

Level 3
Level 3 builds on the skills and vocabulary mastered in prior levels, now attending more and with extended class times. Students are introduced to more challenging material, and higher demand is placed on execution of existing technique. Level 3 meets three times a week for 1.5 hours.

Level 4
Level 4 classes aim to strengthen technique, further expand vocabulary, and build strength in ankles and feet with Pre-Pointe. Pointe work is introduced at this level in the Spring Session. Level 4 meets three times a week for 1.5 hours with an optional Saturday class.

Level 5
Level 5 technique continues to build with more demanding material and advancing pointe work. Level 5 meets four times a week for 1.5-2 hours depending on the day with an optional Saturday class.

Level 6
Level 6 focuses technique and the vocabulary deepens, with an emphasis placed on refining and growing pointe work execution with extended class times. Level 6 meets five times a week for 1.5-2 hours.

Level 7
Level 7 attends 5 days a week, with an optional Saturday class. Technique and vocabulary deepens, with an emphasis placed on refining and growing pointe work execution with extended class times.

Boys Class
Open to all Boys in the Pre-Professional Division in addition to their assigned technique class. Focusing on strength, line, discipline, and quality of movement with a male instructor.

Rec Ballet Classes for students ages 8-18 looking for a less intensive track, joining 1-2 Ballet classes per week.
Modern classes are open for all students enrolled in Levels 4-7 of the Pre-Professional Track.
Levels 4-7 Modern
Open to Pre-Professional Division students in Levels 4-7, Modern classes will incorporate many of the foundations of modern dance technique, including suspension and release, fall and recovery, the use of momentum and connecting breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and improvisation. These classes meet once a week for 1 hour.
Rec Ballet A (ages 8-12)
Rec Ballet A is for dancers ages 8-12 who would like to add ballet to their artistic endeavors, or continue their classical training while pursuing other interests. Classes meet once a week for 1 hour and follow the SBSA curriculum.
Rec Ballet B (13-18)
Rec Ballet B is for dancers ages 13-18 who would like to add ballet to their artistic endeavors, or continue their classical training while pursuing other interests. Classes meet twice a week for 1.5 hours.

All tuition and fees paid to SBSA are non-refundable. Fees may not be transferred or extended towards future tuition. If a student wishes to withdraw from SBSA, we must receive written notification 30 days prior. SBSA is not liable or obligated in any way tpo process any refunds or issue any tuition credits. No refunds or credits are granted for missed classes or early withdrawal.
