Andrea Huynh is originally from Cary, North Carolina and trained at Cary Ballet Conservatory under Heather Iler and Mariaelena Ruiz. As a student, she participated in numerous international ballet competitions, receiving third place in the Youth America Grand Prix semifinals and fourth place at the American Dance Competition. Huynh also attended summer intensives at San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Pennsylvania Ballet, among others. Following her graduation in 2018, Huynh became a trainee with BalletMet, where she performed in trainee productions as Gamzatti in La Bayadere and the Russian Girl in George Balanchine’s Serenade. She joined Pennsylvania Ballet as a trainee on scholarship in 2019, where she performed corps roles in Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and Angel Corella’s La Bayadere.

What are your favorite ballets? 
Serenade and Giselle

What is the best career advice you have received? 
From my teacher, Heather Iler: “If Van Gogh had used paint-by-number, no one would consider him a great artist. Don’t be afraid to be different.”

What do you like to do when you’re not working? 
I love cooking, reading, and hanging out at coffee shops.
