Originally from Manhattan, Julia Davies began her formal ballet training at the age of nine at Ballet Academy East in New York City. At the age of thirteen, Davies was accepted as a year-round student at The Kirov Academy of Ballet. Throughout her training, she attended summer intensives at San Francisco Ballet School, Boston Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.

In 2016, she graduated from The Kirov with honors and received The Outstanding Graduate Award for her senior class. Upon graduation, she trained with world-renowned teachers Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik and in 2017 Julia was invited to join Colorado Ballet as a studio company member.

In 2019, she continued her professional career by joining Ballet San Antonio as a Corps de Ballet member. Some of her most memorable roles were Tweedle Dee in Brian Enos’s Alice in Wonderland, a Harlot in Edwaard Liang’s Romeo and Juliet, a demi-soloist snowflake in The Smith’s The Nutcracker, Lilac Attendant and Garland Waltz couple in Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty as well as performing in George Balanchine’s Serenade.

Best career advice you have ever received?
I am grateful to have such a supportive family. They told me to never give up on what I am passionate about and that although it won’t be easy, it will always be worth working towards.

If you were not a dancer what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t a dancer I would want to be in musical theatre. Singing and acting have been a passion of mine and I would want to continue to perform.

What do you like to do on the weekend?
I love to spend time with friends and explore San Antonio. It is such a unique city with so much to do and see. I’ve really enjoyed living here and there is still so much more I want to experience!
