Britt Lorraine

Britt Lorraine (b.1978) is an artist, performer, choreographer, Pilates practitioner and movement teacher with over 27 years of teaching experience. She earned her M.F.A. in choreography and dance at the University of Iowa, her B.F.A. in dance at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts and received her diploma distinguished as Superior in Dance from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy.

She was awarded choreographic scholarship to study with the incomparable Pearl Lang at The Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. She was also awarded full technique scholarship for her studies at the Graham School and while a trainee performed with the Martha Graham Dance Company in their 1999 winter season at the Joyce Theatre in New York. She is an Artist Foundation of San Antonio grant recipient for her reconstruction of the Ballet Russes’s Rite of Spring. RITE, an eight-plus-hour non-stop solo dance performance won the Best of Contemporary Art Month award in San Antonio.

Her most recent solo exhibition PANOPTICON premiered in San Antonio at Sala Diaz Gallery. She has collaborated in numerous works with artist Kristy Perez under the rubric SAINTLORRAINE. They have exhibited their work in numerous venues including the McNay Museum, The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Artpace and most recently The Contemporary at Blue Star. Pulling from her well of lifelong movement study and visual arts practice, Ms. Lorraine thrives on teaching her clients and students in a way that gives them agency over their own minds and bodies so that they gain knowledge to be self-informed, confident and empowered. Her passion for movement fuels her work. She is thankful to continue to create and teach and is thrilled to be joining The School of Ballet San Antonio faculty.
