Welcome to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and Ballet San Antonio’s world premiere production of Peter Pan!  This production is choreographed by Brian Enos, set to an original score composed by Zac Colwell, with set, prop and costume design by Jayme Ditto.

We would like to thank our generous sponsors, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, the BSA Dancers, SBSA Children’s Cast, staff and Board of Directors of Ballet San Antonio, all without whom this production would not be possible.

With your support, we are able to present three world-class productions each season here at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, as well as offer our community outreach programs increasing accessibility to the arts for children.  New in our 2024-25 is the Send the Kids to the Ballet (StKttB) program, which allows BSA to provide orchestra level tickets and roundtrip bus transportation to a ballet performance for organizations that care for the children in our community across Bexar County, at no cost to the organization.  BSA’s goal is to provide children from all across Bexar County with an experience they would not otherwise have considering their personal, economic and geographic challenges.  If we can give just one of these children a chance to dream again, we will have made a difference and we are proud to share with you that with your support of this program, we have welcomed 5,100 children to a ballet performance this season!

On behalf of all of us at Ballet San Antonio, thank you for being here with us.  Please enjoy the world premiere of Peter Pan!

Sincerely,

Evin Nicole Eubanks

Synopsis

Act I:

In the nursery of the Darling family home in London, young Wendy reads to her brothers, John and Michael. After their parents leave for the evening and the coast is clear, Tinkerbelle, a sprightly fairy, enters the nursery looking for Peter Pan. Peter chases his Shadow into the nursery, and the commotion awakens Wendy and her brothers.

Peter introduces the children to Tinkerbelle, and the two teach the children how to fly so they can accompany them back to Neverland, the land where children never grow up.

In the forest of Neverland, we meet the Neverlanders, the native people of Neverland, led by the fearless Tiger Lilly. The Lost Boys, a group of children brought to Neverland by Peter after falling out of their prams, are tracking the Neverlanders.

Tinkerbelle arrives back and instructs the Lost Boys to slingshot the “Wendy-Bird” when she appears. When Peter lands back in Neverland, he is furious that Wendy has been hit, and he scolds the Lost Boys and Tinkerbelle. However, after Wendy reveals that she is only pretending to be asleep, everyone celebrates before returning to their underground lair.

Alone in the forest, Tiger Lilly is ambushed by Captain Hook and his pirates and taken prisoner to be used as bait to lure Peter — but, always closely behind is the crocodile who, after a taste of Hook’s left hand, is in search of another morsel.
Act II:

In the mermaid’s lagoon, the Mermaid Queen is joined by Peter, Wendy, John, and Michael. The mermaids flee when Hook and the Pirates arrive with Tiger Lilly in tow. While the Pirates are distracted, Peter quietly unties Tiger Lilly and leads her back to the forest. The Lost Boys and Neverlanders, usually at odds with each other, come together to celebrate Peter freeing Tiger Lilly.

Peter, the Darlings, and the Lost Boys return to their underground lair, where Wendy tells the children they can come home with her and her brothers. All the Lost Boys agree, but Peter refuses – much to Wendy’s dismay. However, as the children leave the lair, they are captured by Hook and his pirates. Sensing something is amiss, Peter rushes to rescue them.

On Hook’s ship, Hook tries to convince Wendy to join him as a pirate, but Peter interrupts and challenges him to a duel. After a fierce battle, Hook loses his footing and is thrown overboard into the waiting jaws of the crocodile.

The Lost Boys return to London with Wendy and her brothers, but Peter again refuses to leave Neverland. Wendy is devastated but knows she must return home.

Wendy and her brothers appear back at the nursery window and quietly sneak back into their beds. Upon awakening, Mrs. Darling is overjoyed that her children have returned but startled to see the Lost Boys coming in through the window. Wendy and her brothers explain their harrowing adventure, and Mrs. Darling agrees to adopt the Lost Boys into their family.

Peter and Tinkerbelle look on through the window as Wendy reads a bedtime story to the children.

Jayme Ditto

Set & Costume Designer

Jayme Ditto is an illustrator and designer working primarily in commercial illustration and children’s illustration. She’s a mother of two little girls with old lady names and together they are her muses. Jayme loves collaborating with clients who have a love of whimsy and a high visibility to young children so she can share the importance of art and creativity in our world. Over the last 15 years she’s had the pleasure of working with clients like Frito-Lay, San Antonio Area Foundation, Offhand Studio, The State Fair of Texas, FEED Projects, the San Antonio Museum of Art, Dallas Market Center, Habitat for Humanity, many small businesses, non-profits and schools alike, with teams big and small as the lead creative or sometimes just as an extra hand on set or an extra brain in the room. She makes her home with her husband Mitchell Ditto, who she collaborates with often, in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas.

Kasi Kubiak

Costume Designer / Fabricator

Kasi Kubiak is delighted to be making her costume design debut with Ballet San Antonio. Her most recent tv & stage credits include Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building”, The Public Theater’s “Shakespeare in the Park” (NY), Dröse & Norberg’s “Little Mermaid” (Sweden), and RuPaul’s Drag Race. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Kasi has enjoyed a successful career of illustrating children’s books, fine art portraiture, and painting murals across the country. Her costuming skills have also allowed her to enjoy over 20 years of creating wearable art for Houston society galas and other events around the world.

Lucia Briones

Costume Fabricator

Born on Halloween, Lucia Briones was wired into the costume world from day one. In 2017, using disciplines developed while serving in the United States Army, combined with a predilection of whimsy and flash, Lucia leaned heavily into the field of costume fabrication.

Lucia’s most recent works have been featured internationally on major film, television and theater productions to include The Public’s Shakespeare in the Park, A24, Hulu, MTV, and soon BBC.

While creating new and uncommonly shaped costumes, Lucia finds much satisfaction in maneuvering in a world that does not typically provide blueprints. It is a challenge she gladly takes on with every new project.

Bridge Projects

Cloud Construction

Fabricated with bond paper, wire, LED tape light and lots of staples, Paper Cloud is a collaborative endeavor conceptualized by artists Stuart Allen and Cade Bradshaw (collaboratively known as “Bridge Projects”.) Bridge hosts cloud-making workshops where guests learn to make these unique hanging
lights. Following such a workshop at the Bridge Studio, Ballet San Antonio produced the clouds for this
production of Peter Pan. Peter Pan follows the Paper Cloud’s previous installations at the Light Building on Broadway, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, and the San Antonio Zoo School.
